Synopsis

„Ramona” is the third and most spectacular piece of the „impromptu” short films thrilogy signed by Andrei Crețulescu (along with „Bad Penny” and „Kowalski”).

Produced independently by Andrei Crețulescu, Claudiu Mitcu and Radu Stancu, „Ramona” is the short film that won the Canal + Award at the Cannes International Film Festival, Semaine de la Critique section, but it equally impressed  the critics and the audience in other festival in Europe or USA. A great accomplishment is the selection in the Telluride Film Festival, an exclusivist festival where the selections are announced only one day previous to the beginning of the festival.

PLOT SUMMARY

One girl. One car. One night. No coincidence.

„Bad Penny appeared by accident. I virtually made Kowalski because I had made Bad Penny – and then I made Ramona because I had made Kowalski… Let’s say we decided to end the deal as bloody as possible and the actors wanted us to shoot at the seaside. Which we did. In October – it’s not my fault they didn’t say which season they wanted it”, stated Andrei Crețulescu about Ramona, the last short of his trilogy. (www.ziarulmetropolis.ro)

Conceived in the ‘70s style, with „cold blondes” (Magda Mihăilescu, aarc.ro), „In Ramona, Crețulescu builds (mostly literally) the most powerful female character in all Romanian cinema so far. The protagonist is the first acknowledged femme fatale in Romanian cinema”. (Flavia Dima, CinemaRx.ro).

We invite you to discover Rodica Lazăr, together with other important Romanian actors: Dorian Boguță, Andi Vasluianu, Șerban Pavlu and Ana Ularu.

„Ramona” was the missing piece from Andrei Crețulescu’s shorts trilogy in the list of Romanian short films online at Cinepub.ro.

Reviews:

„Andrei Creţulescu’s Ramona is the third film in a loose trilogy that has lit up the Shorts section for the past two years, often using a dry and black comedy and crackling dialogue. But this one is a wordless, deadly serious account of vengeance which says so much in so little, as an unknown woman wreaks icy havoc on those who have hurt someone she loves. Spare, perfectly paced, unnerving, there’s not an inch of fat on its 24 minutes of shocking action.” (Sheila Seacroft, www.jigsawlounge.co.uk )
