Alex and his sister find out that a close relative is on the death bed. Even if they don’t get along, they have to share the small space of a car to go to the hospital. The road seems endless and they realize that, for once, they share the same difficulty.
Cristina Găvruș and Alexandru Potocean are in a closed space (a car), the camera is permanently close to them (medium shot) studying their every reaction while their acting support the emotional charge of the situation. The relationship between the two brothers is obviously altered and any dialogue attempt (no matter how ordinary the topic) can generate a conflict.
Even if there are moments when the conflict seems likely to be avoided, the seemingly calm dialogue hides smothering differences. „Sunday” is one of those moving short films that elicit the audience’s empathy.
The topic and its realization make the short film worth watching in the Romanian short films online list of Cinepub.ro.
