Coming all the way from the little town of Târgovişte five actors, the director and a little child with his huge teddy bear are crossing the ocean to perform in New York. Not everything goes according to plan though, and the actors decide, for some extra money, to start working with a local agent, also Romanian and settled in US for some time, who promises them a major tour. Will their misadventures come to an end or are they just beginning?
Director, scriptwriter and producer, Răzvan Săvescu is known for the TV series he directed (La Bloc, La servici or Las Fierbinți) and for the TV film O zi președinte (One Day President). The short film directed by Răzvan Săvescu, Caviar (2010), is part of the CINEPUB collection of Romanian films online.
”America, Here We Come!” is a comedy inspired by Răzvan Săvescu’s acting career: “As an actor I lived a sort of Golden Period. At the National Theatre, I had the chance to go to international tours. I was hired by Bulandra Theatre after and I traveled again. During these tours I gathered stories, some more funny and exciting than the others”, declared Răzvan Săvescu (www.gandul.ro).
”America, the humor and the actors. Humor is lacking from the Romanian society lately. And it seems the situation will not change. I don’t know where and how we lost humor, but I know we all try to gain it back. This is what Răzvan Săvescu tries in America, Here We Come (2014) – to bring back the humorous spirit of Romanian films. […] The film is not lacking comic energy. Some scenes are really funny
