26 editions had to pass before CineMAiubit finally arrived back home.

As it happens in „Ithaca”, the famous poem of Kavafis, in which the hero is urged not to rush too quickly to reach his dear Ithaca, from where he left driven by needs, but to lengthen his way back to his homeland as much as possible, to reach home only when it has been enriched with all that has been seen and experienced on its way, attempted by Lestrigoni and Cyclops, so our festival needed to accumulate enough experience before returning home, in the University where it was born.

Today, 26 editions older, but wiser than when it started, The International Student Film Festival invites you to its new home: the UNATC Cinema Hall, a warm place ready to welcome the hero who turns 27 today.

Vivat CineMAiubit! Be well in your new home, where the public can now come to meet you!

In an interview from 2015, Sorin Botoșeneanu said he did not like closed doors; and specified that it was probably about the doors inside his head. As in many other things, here we matched perfectly; closed doors annoy me too, and I was extremely happy when the doors of the UNATC offices became transparent.

Together with UNATC, the CineMAiubit International Student Film Festival must further develop the project of education through film and for film, it must remain a place for communication between different generations of filmmakers and aspirants to the expressive power of the silver screen.

UNATC must be that space, where the ideas and projects are born, debated, shaped and from where innovative artistic movements radiate. Sometimes the dawn of a new cinema current can even be glimpsed in the director’s / filmmaker’s school films and the easiest way to cause the emergence of a current is to keep the doors wide open.

It can be the question you get answered when the audience applauds, the jury awards you, or those with whom you share the credits share your emotions, joys, sufferings and especially insomnia.

It can be the reason that brought you to the benches of the chair of a film school, in the industry or simply inside the cinema hall.

CineMAiubit is in any case what you don’t want, can’t and shouldn’t miss during that magical time in December, when all around and inside UNATC the love for and towards the cinema floats in the air.
