CINEMAIUBIT International Student Film Festival was founded in 1996 and after only two editions it has become international. Since then it has been developing continuously, being not an ordinary festival, but also a cultural and educational platform for the cinema lovers.
Along its 29 editions, CINEMAIUBIT has become a launch pad for the young Romanian filmmakers, a space where the public gets in contact with students productions, and with the future of the Romanian cinema, an absolutely necessary test in the formation of a professional future.
Over time, CINEMAIUBIT has rewarded names that shortly became emblems of the New Romanian Cinema (NRC): Cristian Mungiu, Corneliu Porumboiu, Cătălin Mitulescu, Călin Peter Netzer, Dana Bunescu, Marius Panduru, Cătălin Cristuțiu, Paul Negoescu, Adina Pintilie, Ivana Mladenovic, Tudor Cristian Jurgiu, Lucia Chicoș etc.
Over decades, the Festival is currently not only a guarantor of quality, but also an event already consecrated in the Romanian Cultural landscape.

The world needs brave young artists now more than ever, individuals who keep their eyes open to the realities around us. CineMAiubit, now 29 years old, serves as a platform for young filmmakers to showcase their work, showing us, through their films, their unique perspectives of the world. Their original creations inspire a range of emotions, from wonder, anger, outrage or – why not – even a tremendous burst of laughter. As we celebrate the 29th anniversary of our festival, we encourage these generous artists to offer us a fresh perspective.
Bonne chance to everyone involved! Living gaze that watches what watches us, stay vigilant for us!
We truly need you!
29 years in a row, CineMAiubit, you know what I mean!
Liviu Lucaci
Rector of UNATC

Although it is difficult to dissociate a festival from the idea of prizes and competition, I believe it is healthy to return each year to the Latin origin of the word, to the concept of celebration, gaiety, and joy.
Just as it is healthy to return again and again to the victorious feeling we had when we were admitted at IATC – ATF – UNATC.
That the whole world is at our feet.
That freedom has no boundaries.
That the journey is creation.
And we never stop playing.
Doru Nițescu
President of the UNATC Senate
Festival’s Director

To convince a mature audience, even for a short while, to forget that they are in a dark room, that it is cold outside and that there is a lot of bitterness in the world, means being able to convince children that Santa is real, it is not their parents. During this period, I like to imagine Film Faculty as a school for Santa Clauses, and student festivals as the first celebrations where they can find out how believable they are.
Cinema is a Santa born in December, who for 130 years still manages to bring magic to the screen. As long as we don’t wonder between the two credits of the film how it was produced, how well or not it was performed, whether Santa’s helpers are CGI or AI elves, we can still enjoy the magic.
The “Christmas Celebration” CineMAiubit will also be visited by debutant Santas from all over the world at the 29th edition. In exchange for the gifts on the screen, we don’t have to recite poems. We can offer them applause, occasionally criticism, and the jury won’t let the most convincing ones leave empty-handed.
Merry CineMAiubit!
Vlad Ioachimescu
Dean of the Film Faculty
