Synopsis
In a room packed with objects of all sorts, a man passes the time painting a remake of Picasso’s Guernica, giving books away and taking care of his dog Bakunin. In a final attempt to reach his audience, he comes up with a plan: the destruction of Art.
PLOT SUMMARY
The short film by young director Ana Vîjdea focuses on a bohemian American with anarchistic views, who lives with his dog, Bakunin (a name that is far from coincidental), surrounded by all sorts of second-hand objects that he sells to passersby. The camera follows him unobtrusively, patiently capturing both the “dead times” of his daily life and his interactions with visitors or with Bakunin, as well as his unique and revolutionary artistic actions. “John 746” is a film about waiting, about inspiration, and about living outside of society and its regulations.
