“Together for Herculane”: Filmmaking, Scholarships and Superpowers Grant!
Summer Program for Heritage and Audio-Visual Communication enthusiasts
Why Heritage in Herculane:
Humanity Cultural and Natural Heritage is in precarious, often irretrievable state. Every day, essential fragments of our collective memory and health resources disappear. The situation is all the more desperate as the restoration of many sites requires considerable resources, often beyond the means of the authorities, owners or local civil society. In this context, rescue can only come through the widespread involvement of those who know that beyond material goods lies their relationship with people, their belonging to the social fabric, their deep connections with our evolution as individuals and society. To help the process of bringing together the resources needed to save an extraordinary heritage that involves extraordinary efforts, Cineimpact Film Academy invites you to be participants and partners in the “Together for Herculane” program. This initiative adapts one of the most effective methods of research and social communication to the needs of Cultural and Natural Heritage: the making of Films and Media Content with the help of Sociology and Visual Anthropology. Within the “Together for Herculane” program, the converging powers of these fields will be dedicated to the relationship between society and the heritage of the oldest balneological resort in Romania and Europe, which has been bringing therapeutic benefits to people since 102 AD.
Now in its seventh edition, the Cineimpact Film Academy is creating a special session dedicated to the heritage of Băile Herculane in 2022, from 30 July to 14 August. Students will learn to use a method of social research, cinematic creativity and audio-visual storytelling, with results internationally recognized by two selections and an award at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival. Cineimpact Academies have explored diverse social themes and creatively developed students from over 20 countries on 5 continents since 2014.
Scholarships and Grant
To encourage long-term involvement in supporting heritage, participants from abroad have dedicated special scholarships, while citizens or residents of Romania are encouraged to apply for scholarships covering a minimum of 50% of the participation costs. Together with the foreign students already registered, participants also have the chance to win the Cineimpact prize of 500 euro, which is intended to support the best project.
