PLOT SUMMARY

Continuing the action from “Road of Bones,” after a series of events and overcome obstacles, Margelatu’s gang brings into the country the weapons purchased from Vienna, with the money obtained from selling the treasure left by Tudor Vladimirescu. With the help of those weapons, the clandestine organization Fraternity aims to trigger a revolution.

CRITICAL OPINIONS

“The plot of the film has expanded considerably, encompassing not only roses, but also thorns and spies, and the backbone of the country, its intelligence and sympathizers, diplomats, a fanatical aga, soldiers with their hands on their weapons, peasants ready to take up arms, bankers, dockworkers, and so on.”Eva Sarbu – 1982 (Cinema).

TRIVIA

  • The film continues the adventures of “Margelatu” from “Road of Bones” and will be followed by “The Mysteries of Bucharest,” “The Silver Mask,” “The Turquoise Necklace,” and “Everything Has Its Price.'”
  • This is the second in a series of three Romanian films about the adventures of hero Margelatu, called the “Yellow Rose”, played by popular actor Florin Piersic. The other two films are Road of Bones (1981) and The Mysteries of Bucharest (1983). These films were quite obviously tailored after the Spaghetti Western, with Florin Piersic coming across like a Romanian version of Sartana, lots of hats, horses, action and gunfights. The music includes electric guitar and the camera is occasionally zoom-happy.
  • Final film of Costache Diamandi.
