PLOT SUMMARY
A hybrid between a documentary and a “poetic” essay, this commissioned film of the present leaves a paradoxical impression of an outdated family album. Moreover, the most frequently used technique in this “art film” is either a series of old women staring into the camera or a swarm of children.
With the servile detachment of criticism, this cinematographic litany has become a pretentious benchmark of an entire generation of “authors” whose style will spawn imitators.

WHAT CRITICS SAY:
“It can be said that, similar to Michelangelo Antonioni’s Gente del Po and Luchino Visconti’s Ossessione, Apa ca un bivol negru (Water Like a Black Buffalo) denotes the same ability of the image to divert the path to truth in cinema.” – Titus Vijeu
